About The Recommended List

Each year, Democrats 2000 selects a group of Democratic candidates under age 40 - office at the federal, state, county and local level, and we ask members to contribute to at least two of these candidates directly. Placement on the "Recommended List" offers candidates access to New Jersey's largest network of young professioal Democrats while raising crucial dollars to their campaigns during their final weeks. "Recommended" candidates also are featured on the Democrats 2000 website and have been the subject of several stories in newspapers and other publications across the state.

Since 2002, Democrats 2000 has helped elected 63 candidates under the age of 40 - office at the local, county and state levels. This list of successful "Recommended" candidates includes five members of the New Jersey Legislaturethree freeholders, four county clerks, four mayors and 39 council members.

As our organization has grown so has our ability to offer financial support to even more candidates. In 2005, Democrats 2000 contribute to a record 55 young candidates - office across the State. Once again this year, we are proud to support a wide-range of young professional candidates via the "Recommended List."  This list is not a complete roster of young candidates, nor does it reflect all of the candidates that Democrats 2000 is supporting this election season.  Given the large number of candidates this year, Democrats 2000 would like members to focus on seven high-profile campaigns.  Please keep in mind that support of these candidate does not diminish the importance of all young professionals seeking elected office.  We believe that by focusing our support on key races we can make the greatest difference in these races to ensure the victory for up-and-coming Democrats throughout the state of New Jersey.
